The AviClear® laser device (also known as the „Acne Killer”) by Cutera is the first laser technology registered in the U.S. specifically for the long-term treatment of mild, moderate, and severe acne as of 2022, and in Europe as of 2024.
The therapy is recommended for patients of all ages, for any skin phototype, and regardless of the season. Pain levels are reported by patients to be around 2-3 on a 10-point scale.
The goal of the procedure is the selective treatment, heating, and denaturation of sebaceous glands and sebocytes without causing thermal damage to surrounding tissue. The greatest advantage of this therapy is achieving long-lasting acne remission. The treatment involves three sessions spaced four weeks apart.
The procedure can be performed on facial skin as well as on the body, such as the back or shoulders. Treatments are available year-round.
